Why local matters on Google
Google says its local results are mainly based on three things: how well a business matches the search, how far it is from the person searching, and how popular it is. So a café in Joondalup and a café in Malaga can both be on top, for different people.
That means you don't have to beat the big Perth agencies or the national brands. You have to beat the businesses near you, and for some local searches that bar is low. In September 2026 we pulled Google's map results for “seo joondalup”, searched from Wangara. Two of the three businesses shown had one Google review or none.
What we've seen in Wangara
In September 2026 we pulled Google Maps results for 35 trades, searched from Wangara. Then we looked closely at the 26 businesses with the weakest numbers. One Google listing had a website button that opened a web server's default page, not the business's site. Several had a phone number on Google that didn't match their Yellow Pages entry, their Facebook page or their own website. And some had a different address on Google than on Yellow Pages or True Local.

A simple way to ask every customer after the job. Google says more reviews and positive ratings can help your local ranking.

Your business name, address and phone number should be the same on Google, your website, Facebook, Yellow Pages, True Local and the other places you're listed. In Wangara we found several businesses where they weren't. We find the ones that don't match and fix them.

How is local SEO different from normal SEO?
Normal SEO is about ranking a website across a whole country or topic. Local SEO is about the map results and searches with a place in them, like "plumber Joondalup". Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and how well known a business is.
How long does local SEO take?
It depends on your listing and how busy your trade is in your area, so we won't promise a date or a position. Fixing a wrong or unverified Google listing can help quickly, because you stop losing people who were already looking for you. Climbing the map for a busy search takes months.
